Last night, December 16th, NCIS aired its 11th episode of its current season (Season 6). Titled Silent Night, the NCIS teams is stuck working on a case over Christmas involving a crime suspect who is presumed dead.
In the episode, the team finds an unusual clue--a shirt button that they trace back to a button company in Scranton, PA.

I haven't seen the episode, but Scranton's button history is more than a loose plot thread:
The Wikipedia entry on the Scranton Button Company is disappointingly brief, but there's a nice page on their transition to making (audio) records elsewhere.
Cheryl Kashuba wrote on this for the Times & Trib just this past September (with a terrible pun that I charitably ascribe to the editors).
